Twin bulls...

Whenever you look at a catalogue of pedigree bulls at a sale, it will always tell you if the bull was born a twin, and even if he was twin to a male or a female...My question is, how relevant is this? Is there any advantage or disadvantage to him being a twin?

I don't know, I had a twin stag (a one stone bandit) one year he bulled 4 cow for me. I kept his 2 daughters, they are 4th calvers now. 1 of them has had 3 sets of twins and the other one has had two sets, I am guessing the twin breading is going back to him. While twins are good when all goes well, they are extra work when they are born and personally I would prefer 1 good calf a year with less hassle, so I would be staying away from a twin bull.

A bull twinned to a heifer may be less fertile.

Twins are a pain in the rear end, great when they work out but can be a lot of extra work with them at calving, getting weak ones sucking etc.
It definitely runs in the genes with some lines of breeding and often skips a generation i find.
    I wouldn't buy a twin bull anyway.
