Main dealer UK imports.

Does anyone know if many main dealers are importing vehicles from the UK?

    I was considering a new Audi A4 for 2020, having a 161 A4 as a possible trade-in.

Recently a friend expressed a serious interest in buying my (very low mileage)161 when I'm ready to change, so with cash in hand I was thinking of going the UK import route for a newish (6+ months) A4.

I've heard of a few BMW dealers importing used vehicles from the UK but I was wondering if Audi dealers do likewise? Rather than going to the UK myself, I'd prefer to get one already imported by a local dealer. Just wondering if anyone here bought an imported Audi that way?

By going through the dealer I believe you’ll negate any of the potential benefits of importing from the UK or am I missing something?

Are you looking to pick the car yourself and just have them arrange transport and paperwork etc?

What’s the difference between you doing that and me just walking into the same dealership and enquiring about an Audi

I'm hoping to get a petrol model which I can't find in this country and I'm trying to find out if it's feasible to have a main dealer to do the importing.

I've heard of one Audi dealer bringing in a couple of used Q5s last year, but I don't know if it was a once-off or if they import cars routinely.

I realise it won't be as cheap as importing it myself, but I would hopefully have a better warranty if the dealer sold me the import because I understand Audi Ireland won't honour the warranty on a privately imported UK vehicle.

Certain Audi dealers do but I don't think it's as high a number as BMW.

I've test driven a couple of UK plate Audis here. The car would be registered when sold and have a full IE warranty.

Pierse Motors in Tipperary Town used to have the Audi franchise up to a few years ago, they bring plenty of used Audis in from the UK these days despite still having the VW/SEAT franchise. Worth enquiring with them if they will bring in what you want, though they ain't known for being cheap.

Audi Ireland will cover the first two years of the warranty as it's Wurope wide, it's only year 3 that you may loose out on.
