Squealing from rear wheel

    Hi all,

In the last few days I've noticed a squealing from my rear passenger side wheel, any thoughts on what it might be?

It only seems to happen if the car is left for a while parked, 8-10+ hours and it only squeals for a few seconds. If I stop at lights or whatever it doesn't start again. It's hard to describe but it sounds like a rotating squeal if that makes sense... Much loader at a certain point of the rotation of the wheel. Maybe brake pads or discs?

Anything I can check or should I just head to a mechanic?

    Thanks

Probably the wear indicator on the brake pad telling you it's getting close to the time when the rear pads need changing.

Thanks, have it booked in for new rear pads. Got a price of €90, does that sound reasonable?

    Are the pads definitely gone?

    Apologies, 08 C220 CDI

I don't know yo be honest. A lad in work had a look and suggested it was them, he's not a mechanic. Haven't heard the squeal in a few days though.

I just realised that it mainly happens when I park in one specific place, at work, which is on a slight hill. Not sure if that has any bearing on what the issue might be?
