So I've a 4 hour trial shift at a maxol station this Thursday. The manager said she prefers this method over interviews. I'll apparently mainly be observing for this duration.

Does anyone know what I can expect? There's another people doing their own trials too.

Why would you work for free?

No doubt she has others lined up to fill up the day. Saves her the wages

Many many moons ago, when I was in college, I did something similar for a clothes shop. I got selected. I’d advise you to act interested in what is going on. Smile at customers. When it’s quiet make small talk with your potential colleagues. Ask questions. When finishing up mention some specifics to make it obvious you were soaking up what was happening. Good luck !

Normally, I'm totally against internships and lengthy trials.

But in the environment of a small shop or petrol station, the staff really do need to be the jack of all trades types, and I think a mornings work is probably a fair length from them to get a feel of the job.

Afew hours FOC is fine IMO. The biggest thing to look out for are drive offs and people parking at pumps and blocking the place up. Best of luck

Whatever side of the car the exhaust pipe is on the fuel filler door is the opposite, helps when approaching a car.

I would think that the OP may not have been completely honest in his post

And you would know this because... oh wait, you have absolutely no idea!

And the idea that getting someone with no experience to send a couple of hours there is beneficial, just confirms your lack of knowledge on the topic.
