    Hi,

Someone I know was in a crash accident where they werent responsible and the other party is taking responsibility and prefer to pay private.

The damage wasnt too bad just deep scrapes along driver door. They are getting a quote form a panel beater tomorrow. Do they have to get paper work to provide proof of the quote or can they get the quote and simply tell the person. They also want to add €50 for their time but I didnt think they could do that. Also can they pocket the money without getting the repairs done in the end?

Well the injured party can look for whatever deal they like really.

The can of course just pocket the money. Leave as is and take the hit when selling car again.

€50 will hardly rent them a car for the day or get taxi to and from panel beaters.

These arrangements can and do work. But only if both parties prepared to get on with it and stop moaning. If your mate is gonna question everything he'd be as well going through insurance. Be an expensive manoeuvre. Other party may still throw in a whiplash claim in 6 months

    Sorry

Yeah get written quote off preferred panel beater.

If he wants 50 fir his time be prepared for it to cause offence. Maybe write down as car hire or taxi or whatever.

Get money or go to insurer.
Make sure some piece of paper states that other party at fault in case they lob in a claim.

Get panel beater to include collection and delivery in his quotation.

    Slight off topic.

But a someone said even though he not a fault his insurance will go up next year is that true. He has informed his insurance of the situation.

No. Someone has crashed into your friend. They were not at fault. Their insurance will not change. I think they are taking the mick asking for 50 quid for their time too, but I suppose there's nothing stopping them from putting that in there.
