Hi, currently have a 3 story (old) house. About to start a small renovation. One of the things I want to sort out is putting some insulation and importantly sound proofing between the floors. Plan was to lift the boards and stuff in rock wool between the joists. Would this be good for sound insulation? Any alternatives? Thanks

Rock wool will do the job unless you really want to spend money.

There are loads of specialised materials out there for sound proofing and it will mainly depend on how much space you have between floors.

However be aware that most of the sound will travel from the floor boards, into the joists and onto the ceiling below. So no matter how much stuff you put between the floors this is your main weak point.
