Clipped wing mirrors

    Hi there,

A bit worried about a recent situation - driving on country road and meet three cars oncoming. Slowed down and pulled over as far as possible to allow them to pass. The first and third car passed as normal but the second car clipped my wing mirror (it snapped in but no major damage car a crack and a chip off the cover).

I kept on driving however as I assumed both mirrors just popped in as it was a new enough VW polo/golf I think. Looking back I realise I probably should have stopped/checked if he stopped in case his mirror suffered greater damage. Should I report this to guards/insurance or am I overthinking/worrying too much?

If the first car managed to pass then you were probably not at fault. If you were stopped and they were moving then they were at fault.

I you had already stopped, then they drove into you - not your fault.

If the other cars managed to squeeze by with no issues then sounds like the third driver needs more lessons..

Yep, hopefully they had some damage and it might teach them to keep over.

Had the same problem 2 yrs ago,op hit mine and vice Versa, insurance told me to get a quote for my damage etc,( I originally ordered new glass from Mick's garage-he didn't want it) he called the law who promptly told him it's up to us to sort it out as long as there's no one hurt etc,he had a 2010 corolla,I had a 2010 insight-liberty told me get a quote for my damage ,hand it to him,get his quote and both insurance companies will make each of us pay half of each others damage, told him this,I matched his exaggerated main dealer quote of e160 ,end of claim, greedy bastard tried to screw me,his damage was under e30 to fix yet got Toyota to write him a quote for labour, mirror housing, etc etc,I again told him it's 50/50 or nothing ( he's a prick of a bad neighbour ) he dropped it,he's a piss head who was looking for a cheap night
