Footpath Repair

There is a small foitpath that goes along the front of my house and is right up against the foundation. At one point along the path there has developed a small gap between the path and wall. What would be good to seal this to prevent water getting in or weeds from growing there?

Mortar- a mix of soft building sand and cement, mixed 3:1
