    Nct query!
If a car has been off the road for 4 years without being declared, and is sold, how does the new owner get a valid nct?

Just book it for a test as usual. It'll still be based around the cars date of first reg, so depending how the dates fall it might not get a full 12 month cert.

    Was actually wondering this myself
Currently looking at a car that was taken off the road around March 2017 and the NCT ran out in May 2017
So, basically if I put it through now, I will only get 1 months NCT?

It's slightly more confusing than that. They dont issue a cert for less than 90 days, it falls under the same idea that you can test a car up to 90 days before it's due date and get an additional 90 days (15 months) test.

That car if it passed now would get 13 months test, until May 2020.

Cheers. Had been putting off making a decision on that car, as seemed totally ridiculous having to put it through a test in the next week, only to do it all again in a months time!
