    **Asking for a friend :) **

He tags on and off everyday and might forget once a month at most. On these occasions, he'll tag off forgetting he hadn't tagged on and so costing himself more money. When he has rushed on at stop before the luas departs he'll get off and tag on at the next stop and get back on. He doesn't have an issue with ever paying his fare. So when he forgot to tag on recently and an inspector got on he gave false details after his explanation fell on deaf ears. He hasn't registered his leap card and doesn't use an app to top up. He just uses his bank card at the station. Can luas use his bank details to track him down given he uses his bank card to top up?

    Thanks

Someone I know had their purse stolen and her bank card was used to top up the thief's leap card multiple times at a Luas stop before the card was stopped. Luas/NTA told her they weren't able to link the transactions to an individual leap card.

Not a hope of a private company accessing bank details like that.

I probably didn't think they could get them by requesting them from the bank itself, more that payee details could get given to the 'merchant' as part of the transaction. But yeah, would be a bit worried about more than just luas card payments if that really was the case

I think they give like a month to repay, surely hundreds of people will be fined in that space of time, I really doubt theyll have the time or resources to follow up on fake details given

Pay the fine and nothing should come of this.
