That's what we bought. Our 2007 1.4 petrol proved very reliable. It has a timing chain also. Car was fairly slow and numb to drive but was grand everywhere else.

What sort of driving do you do, and how much roughly is your annual mileage?

What will the car mainly be used for, how many people and how much luggage etc would you be likely to carry. Any child seats involved?

Are you looking for a car bigger than your Punto?

    How much is your budget?

Are there any must-have extras that the car must have?

If you can answer all these questions, boardsies can make a recommendation based on your answers

    Ms

    dodgy electrics on them,

Bull'sh'it Maybe the very odd car just like the very odd VW Golf or Toyota Corolla would have some issue too but they are actually a very reliable well built car.

French cars are just as good as most cars now and better than some German ones. Germans also love French cars as they know they are a good car.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

Can’t see the OP getting a 208 for €2500. They came out in 2012
    dodgy electrics on them,
    That’s just untrue

You'd struggle to get a clean maintained 208 for under 5k, never mind the OP's budget.

OP - I’d be looking at something like a 1.4 petrol Kia Pro Ceed. You’d get a 2008 for your budget.
