Should I trade in Fiesta

    I bought a new Fiesta in 2013. In 2016 the dealer rang me to see if I wanted to trade it in. I wasn't bothered but he got me a slightly upgraded model (ecoboost engine) for 4K and a trade in. €1300 per year seemed OK for me to keep the car new so I traded it in.
    It means I stay within warranty, I don't have to bother about the costs that start to appear after 3 years.

    So my current Fiesta is 3 years old. I had a chat with a dealer today. To keep like for like it's €6.5K. I'm not bothered about going for that. They have new features in them now (lane assist, Android auto, reading road signs etc. etc. which I don't care about at all).

    So wondering what to do.

    I don't care about cars at all. I just want something economical and reliable enough. We do 10,000Km per year. We've one toddler so the Fiesta is big enough for us. Wouldn't mind something a bit bigger though (Focus sized) as the boot can be annoying about once or twice a year.

    If I could get a new model for about 4K with trade in I'd do it. Basically if I could spend €1300 a year to keep a new car I would. Should I go to an alternate make / model or keep the car for another few years? I'm just wondering what the most efficient way is to do it?

    I currently have a 2012 focus hatchback and the boot is tiny.

    Did a weekend away recently with the kid and my aunt. Boot was full and had to use the cabin for stuff too.

    The problem is that in 2013 when you traded up to the 2016 Fiesta it was basically the same model so the cost to change was reasonable. However now you have an all new model Fiesta which has more standard stuff on it but with a higher price. You also are trading an old model for a new model so naturally the cost to change price is going to be higher.

    Have you shopped around different dealers to see if you can get a more favourable cost to change price? Or with giving the car such little use do you really need to change your current car at all?
