Hey I was banned from driving for 4 years on November 17' for driving without insurance and I got another 4 year ban on January 18' for driving without insurance a second time does this mean I have 8 years off the road or will the ban be over in January 2022?

Should be banned for life for being a coont

Most likely depends on the judgement of the court I would guess. I would assume that you were told at the time if they were consecutive or concurrent driving bans?

I don't think your insurance will be exactly cheap, that's if you decide to get insurance next time out.

No I was never told because they were 2 separate court dates in different court houses

Is there anywhere online I can check how long is left to serve on my ban or would I have to go to the guards for that?

"Any disqualification order issued by the courts can be appealed within 14 days from the date of conviction. If the judge orders you to be disqualified from driving and you do not appeal the conviction, you will receive a Notice from the Fines Office of the District Court where you appeared, stating that you must hand in your driving licence immediately.

The Fines Office of the District Court will require you to submit any driving licence/learner permit you hold to the NDLS, together with the details of the Court Order. The NDLS will hold your driving licence/learner permit until the period of disqualification is over."

Here are the contact details for NDLS:

    https://ndls.ie/contact.html

    Note:

If you were disqualified in November 2017 and didn't surrender your license, the clock has not started running down on that initial 4 year period in terms of the time your license will carry an endorsement on its return. You can't claim you lost your license to escape that either. The 4 years begins when you hand in the license to NDLS, then the endorsement runs from the end of that period for whatever term is applicable.

It's an offense to drive while disqualified, with possible fines of up to €5000. Enforcement and follow up by the courts is something else entirely.

If you're disqualified, stay off the road until you're cleared to have your license returned. You must apply for a replacement license at that time and it's up to you to make sure the endorsement is recorded. If you don't, the clock starts when that is corrected.

    Enjoy the bus.

What would be the case if your license was out of date?

If my license was out of date then how would the clock count down on the ban because the license was not valid and I can't apply for a new one until the ban is up?

Surely the second cancels the first? You’re good to go OP, drive on.

I wouldn't worry about it. With that sort of attitude you'll either be dead or in jail for killing someone in an accident long before 2022.

😂 If I get stopped again I'll just tell them you said it was alright 😂 I think if I just go into the guards in the morning they'd be able to tell me thanks anyway lads ðŸ‘

Why weren't you done for driving without a license?

    I got a €200 fine for that

Are you minted? Like €8,000 per year on insurance?

If not forget ever driving again. You're untouchable.

Did you get any fine for all the trolling?
