Toby Jones new comedy series (6x30') starts next Tuesday April 9th at 10pm.

I liked him in Detectorists so I hope this is just as good.
A new comedy set in the seaside town of Bognor Regis, this is the first piece of writing for television from Bafta Award-winner Toby Jones and Obie Award winner Tim Crouch.

Don’t Forget The Driver observes the beauty and ugliness of life in small-town Britain, following a group of people struggling with their sense of identity and place in the world.

Toby Jones stars as coach driver Peter Green, who lives a life of ordinary routine, troubled by his disaffected daughter Kayla (Erin Kellyman) and ailing mum Joy (Marcia Warren). Overworked and overwhelmed, Peter is frustrated by the lack of support from his brother Barry (Toby Jones), who has emigrated to Australia.

The trip of the day is Dunkirk, as Green and his co-driver Squeaky Dave (Danny Kirrane) prepare to take a group of pensioners to visit the war graves in France. But what should be an ordinary day is turned upside down when the docile town of Bognor is confronted with two unexpected arrivals.

Don't Forget the Driver: the show to help you come to terms with Brexit

Good write ups for this comic drama. The Mail might hate it though ;)

How can one not be fond of something that the "Daily Mail" despises?

Not sure what to make of that, you need one sympathetic character and Toby Jones's driver is not it yet. A small man literally and figuratively so far.

I know they are probably trying to establish characters in the first episode, but I couldn't keep up with the sheer number of characters. The mother, the daughter, the other driver, the homeless guy at the bus depot, the stowaway, the horrible twin brother, it all felt a bit crammed.
