Driving/Parking car in Belfast

Sorry for this ridiculously stupid request, im wet behind the ears.

I've never been to Belfast, and for my job am going to have to go up once in a while. just wondering if there are areas of belfast where it is suicide to leave a dublin registered car parked. will i expect to get keyed or window smashed.

Again, apologies if this is a stupid question.

thanks, i noticed the kerbs on google street view. cant tell if any southern regs as they are redacted out.

depends where your going university is ok but literally round the corner is sandy row (red white and blue kerbstones)

keep an eye on the dates once the marching season starts - more for traffic issues and road closures been caught a few times

I had this issue before. Planned to leave the car in a public surface car park near the hotel for the weekend. Decided not to and stumped up for hotel car park. Felt vindicated when I saw the aftermath of a parade (lots of locked gurriers wearing Orange) on the street just off which I'd planned to park. That was in July though.

Another time I just parked it up by the Malone Rd to visit someone in Queen's University for the weekend and no hassle.

I'd say check out the area you plan to leave the car on streetview beforehand, dodgy stuff may show up.

Years, and I mean years ago a mate of mine was parked up there with a Rangers sticker on the back windscreen. Someone loosened the wheel nuts on one of his wheels. Most places are grand these days.

I always park in the Great Northern whenever we're up.

Half the cars there overnight are southern reg, there's probably a reason for that.

thanks for all the replies. seems to be an issue, esp having to park in Great Northern Ireland. So juvenile to damage cars cause they are southern. But then the shinners walking behind a specific banner in the st. patricks day parade was juvenile too.

the faster foreign nationals from everywhere else in the world settle into northern ireland and dilute this sectarianism the better.

I lived on Ashley Avenue for 6 months with my old KE reg, no issue except for "parade" day.

Not been over in a few years but when going into the city I used to park in the Castlecourt Shopping Centre. Easy access from the motorway, and out the front door straight into the city.
