If a party to a legal action claims they didn't receive registered post (An Post) last year, is there any way of checking that they had actually signed for it?

As I understand its quite common for a neighbor or roommate to sign...

Do you have the tracking number? You should be able to get the proof of delivery signature on the an post site

Nice one! I just tested one of mine from last year. Clicked the request proof of delivery and had the mail 10 mins later.

The whole point of registered post is that there will be a permanent record of delivery.

Not sure what the time limit is, but long enough for the op.

Better to download the file rather than wait for a year or two.

Do you get to see who signed for the letter or just that someone signed it?

It's been a while since I got a record but I think you get to see the signature and the name they gave.

Yes it comes up online the signature and the printed name.but the only thing is someone else could have signed for it for the addressee?that's possible to.

the court would be very slow in not accepting registered post as a valid way to serve proceedings etc.

Once you have proof of service from an post and a statutory declaration of service from the person who posted it it will be accepted, even if it is signed by someone else there would be a very strong presumption that the person in question saw it.

In some courts, the rules require personal service.

I sent a letter through registered post over two weeks ago. It is still listed in Track and Trace as being processed in the Distribution Centre. I have filled in the missing post online form and An Post have replied to me with a reference ,saying they will investigate. I often use registered post. You get an email and a signature of recipient each time. Very strange. Has anyone else experienced this?
