    Hi,

I've been working for an agency for the past year, they give you a site, you're typically there for a few months, then move on to the next no hassle. Unfortunately, I finished my last job on Friday, for whatever reason they are unusually quiet at the minute and keep saying something should come tomorrow.

This only happened once before, I was on a site, finished up, and had two days off, wasn't too fussed as I was only new in the door so it's to be expected. At the time I went to Intreo and asked could I get dole covered for the two days seeing as I was technically seeking work, they were very unhelpful and wanted to set me up for a meeting a few days from then, which of course was pointless as by that stage I knew I'd be back in work.

Is there any way to lodge a claim for the last two days, and preferably backdate one to when I was off a few months ago, without being put through the nonsense of attending meetings etc? I was only on the dole once before for a very brief period after returning from abroad and didn't have to attend any meeting far as I recall. Obviously I have texts to prove I've been contacting every day awaiting my next job so I am technically unemployed and seeking work, and obviously if I don't get consistent work by the end of the week I'll be going elsewhere.

    Thanks.

unfortunately no, there is no way to backdate a claim, and to make a claim you are givin an appointment date and time tocome back with all your documents etc and then usually that is classedas the first day of your claim.

given your work situation im not sure you can do much about it as im sure you cant sign on and off every few weeks like that

You can claim for the days youre not working. Bring in a letter from your employer stating that your full time job has ended, explain to them that you might get a few days work in the future but youre unsure when or how many days work you will get.
You will have to give show them how much you earned over the last 13 weeks, get the ball rolling as the later you leave it, the longer you'll be waiting. You can only get backdated from the day you apply for social welfare so if you get in to them tomorrow or Monday, you'll be backdated to that day, if youre awarded social welfare.
