Housing Waiting List

A member of my family is on Disability Allowance for almost 15 years. She has never applied for Social Housing due to being so sick that she was frequently bedridden and needed to be within the family home for care. Also extreme anxiety about living alone was a factor.

She would like to make the move eventually as she can't live at home forever.

Is it taken into account how long someone has been ill and receiving social welfare , when applying for housing, or it solely based on how long you have been on the Housing list?

This is not the Dublin area.

I know she should have applied years ago, but this always resulted in a meltdown about not being able coping on her own, both physically and mentally.

If anyone has an insight into this situation please let me know.

Essentially your housed on need and time on the lists ,
And that's before you actually get on to the list in the first place ,
But either way they are in for a long wait if they only applied this week
