Wineport Lodge or other suggestion

Looking at the Wineport Lodge as a possible place for a 20yr anniversary stay
Place seems to tick a lot of boxes, nice rooms, good restaurant, decent spa, lakeview rooms

A couple of things missing that would like to have or places to go for a walk and a pool

Wife likes the spa treatments but not for me, I'd like to have a pool option and says on their site no walk trails

Not dealbreakers but looking for other suggestions about max 1.5hr drive from Kildare that would have a pool and/or walk areas

Not interested in Druids Glen or Powerscourt Thanks

If food is the priority then Perhaps Nevin Maguires place in Blacklion, Cavan? Very popular, needs to be booked c. 6 months in advance but anyone I know who has been has raved about the food there, its good for a special occasion like an anniversary.
Hodson Bay outside Athlone would fit the spa, pool and walking part, not sure what the food is like there though as its years since Ive been.
Mount Juilet in Kilkenny another option. Pretty pricey I believe.

Monart? I've been a few times with my wife and really enjoyed it.

Johnstown house near enfield is really nice, great food, spa, lovely pool. Few nice walks too nearby along the canals.

Thanks, we're only about 15min drive from k club so part of us feels we wouldn't actually be getting away but I'm sure when youre in there it wouldn't matter

Might keep it in mind for another option as it looks great

Had another look at Lyrath, they have a great price for 1night with B&B & Dinner for 2 so might opt for that one

The lyrath is nice. I haven’t been in a while but the spa and thermal area is lovely. Breakfast was lovely and at the time the restaurant upstairs was Asian style but I believe it’s a more steaks and grill style restaurant now. Plenty of walks around and it’s not too far from Kilkenny centre. Rooms lovely too.

Seafield might fit the bill too. Great spa (with a small pool)...woodland walk down to the (Ballymoney) beach, decent food in the restaurant. Views over the golf course. Only an hour or so from Dublin

I've been to the Wineport a couple of times.
Food is great and staff are lovely. Rooms are nice. Not much to speak of in terms of a Spa (unless I'm mistaken its really only hot-tubs and treatments - no Sauna etc)
It'd be a decent option for a night.
Montenotte (sp?) in Cork or the Ice-house in Mayo are both out of your desired catchment but are lovely places.
Farnham Estate would be a good option and is about 60-90mins away.
The Absolut Hotel in Limerick would also tick a number of boxes but doesn't have that quaintness of some hotels.

Monart or Seafield for me - stayed in both more than once - Monart is very special, not like a hotel at all, with excellent food - but it's pricey.

Seafield has everything -i'd avoid Fri or Sat night if possible as it's very busy with Hen parties, so treatments harder to get, but Sunday is ideal

I love both, but for different reasons - you'd get one amazing night in Monart for the same price as 2 good nights (sun/mon for example) in Seafield.

For what it's worth, I'd rate them both ahead of Lyrath

Echo the sentiments about Wineport, I wouldn't be mad on it at all to be honest. Zero spa except for the hot tubs.

Farnham estate is good value for money, and ticks all those boxes. TBH, if you can spring the cash for Monart, there's nowhere that comes close.

Popped back to say - consider Brooklodge

    Farnham Estate Cavan.
Nice walks on the grounds and nearby.
Good spa and pool facilities included in price.

Farnham is great and bring a book you can chill out in the pool area, and there's a little cafe then off that where you can get a bite to eat.

Also the resaturant food is fab and well worth paying the money for (rather than the grill), we really enjoyed it.

And the staff there are so nice! Highly recommend it.

The spa isn't as spanking new as other places but the chill out area is great to relax in.

Also lovely walks around the grounds.

Having stayed in both, I think Farnham is a better option than The Wineport for what you're looking for. Definitely dine in the restaurant though rather than the grill.

If you're looking to really push the boat, I'd go for the The Cliff House in Waterford.

Really like the look of Farnham and the prices aswell are not off the chart

Echo the Cliff House, we went there for my 40th great place.

You can get Farnham on a pigsback deal makes it a really good deal

When I was in Farnham 3 or so years ago we really liked it overall. Place is nice, good walks (bring boots or wellies), staff were good, room was very nice, restaurant was lovely for food, and the cellar bar did a nice lunch - though there is/was little natural light down there if you're going for a drink -think they've done it up a bit now though.
The pool/spa area was somewhat underwhelming - it didn't have a luxury look about it - was more akin to a standard hotel or even comunnity centre - those beige pool-tiles everywhere.
All in all though a nice place to stay and I would return.
