Developed same issue with 11 reg focus.

Fixed them over weekend. Turns out it's a common Ford design defect which Ford are ignoring.

There are vents at the rear into a bung at either side of the car, under the bumper. Seals were gone on the vents and allowing water in.

Fiesta slightly different as there are predrilled holes over vent to allowed for wiring. These were covered in a tape that had come away.

Both cars have now been resealed and survived a car wash with no water getting in

funny that was talking to a dealer a couple of weeks ago who imports a lot of focus's and he said thats the first thing he does on them is take the back bumper off and re-seal, we were chatting - I wasnt buying a focus of him. reckons it saves him a load of hassle !

Seemingly it's a known Ford issue and they haven't done a recall

It's 8 years old, a bit harsh to blame Ford for not acting.
