Seeing that the EU is stopping the time zone differential next year hopefully. Maybe it's time to change the wording of the 'Bank Holiday' to a Citizens Holiday ?.

I know most of you won't care what it is named as you are getting a day off, but Lets get rid of the Bank wording and replace it with a more natural and ethic wording as a... Citizens Holiday. Remove everything good wording connected to the banks onto the citizens.

I'm up for it, are YOU?.

    Feck The Banks

Individual people have different thoughts and understanding in regard to others opinions, but the problem is this... there are some people out there that will do everything in their power to cut you off when they do not like your opinion even when it is truth.

They are already legally called public holidays and have been for decades.

They are actually called public holidays. It just happens that many of them occur on the same days as bank holidays.

There are actually a few more real bank holidays than actual public holidays

    There are nine public holidays.

People may call them bank holidays, but they are public holidays.

There are two extra bank holidays - Good Friday and 27 Dec. These are not public holidays.

The OPs next crusade will be the renaming of Marathon bars and Opal Fruits.

Just change the wording, that's what I'm talking about. It sounds more euphoric to us citizens. Here here.

Yes to Funky bars & opaque fruits. We need some proper wording materialising to the correct people and fruits.

I'm getting a paid day off. - They can call it Hitler's holiday if they like.

May be the Bank's need to be associated with something positive!

Sounds like the OP is the Progressive type who'd not be satisfied until the language remains unpurged of triggering phrases.

Your psychic abilities are incorrect. I just think that the wording of a bank holiday should be changed to a Citizens holiday, we all deserve it, and also to allow us to be distinguished properly and respected as such from the way most folk were treated by the banks.

Words sound better when they are directed ethically towards the good people and not a corrupt organisation.

There is no wording to be legally changed - they are not called Bank Holidays.

There is no way to force the populous to stop them using an unofficial name.

Changing public holiday to something else would probably get even less traction.

Good point. Maybe the citizens I talk about need more education.

Or most people just like the traditional term bank holiday. No name change or “education” will stop me using the term bank holiday and I’d wager the vast majority of people are the same.

Common sense instead of brainwashed. Correct wording from day one should have been used instead, but I suppose I am in the lower spectrum for people to understand the real meanings of how words should be applied.

I don't know why you posted all of the above, as it is unrelated. Just don't give the banks a second of gratitude, they don't deserve it. :)
