I have been permanently banned from After hours for "advocating animal cruelty" after posting a tongue in cheek joke.

Considering the irreverent tone of the forum in question I find this ban to be extremely heavy handed and if I'm putting on my paranoid hat it feels a bit like old scores being settled by the moderation staff therein.

The first step in the dispute process is to contact the mod and attempt to work it out between yourselves.

Have you done this, and if so, what was the result?

Please discuss the ban with the relevant moderator to see if a resolution could be found. Then post pm conversation here

    I have done.
They said they consulted another mod who agreed with them.
They have so far declined to say who the other mod is.

    Dear nullzero,

You have been permanently banned from After Hours for Trolling.

This means you are posting in an intentionally provocative fashion in order to gain a reaction from other members. This is disruptive and causes stress to other members.
    We don't want that here.

For more information please refer to the Boards.ie FAQ.

If you wish to appeal this ban you can see details on how to do so here.

    Permanently banned?
For a tongue in cheek remark?

No for advocating animal cruelty, I've asked to have it reviewed.

    I never advocated anything.
It was an off colour remark, but those are common place in after hours.

    I think you over reacted.

I tried opening a thread through the link you sent but couldn't get it to work.

Ive asked another mod to look at it

Another mod said they Would have done the same

I would have thought what I posted would be viewed as an obvious joke.

AH features posts of a similar nature quite regularly.

Posting a joke is obviously not advocating for animal cruelty.

I find it strange that somebody in that position would appropriate what I said in that manner.
If there was an issue with the humor I could accept that, but to misrepresent me in that way isn't fair and permanently banning me for it after I explained my intent doesn't fit the "crime".
