Sliding door lock replacement

Is a sliding door lock replacement a DIY job or does it require a locksmith?

It's one of those that has the lever latch on the handle with the sliding parts at the top and bottom of the door (if that makes sense?). I can't find an image of it to link to. You open the key lock, push up the lever and the door can be pulled open.

The problem with mine is that the lock seems to have slipped so the key now doesn't align straight after locking or unlocking, so it's very difficult to get the key out. I think a straight replacement would be the best bet if it's handy enough to do myself.

is the lock barrel loose? you know the screw in the frame that allows you remove the barrel, assuming you have the key, and move it about 15 degrees to line up the piece that keeps it in
