    Hi,
I have the NCT this Friday, and was wondering if they'll have an issue with these front suspension rods on my Toyota Corolla?
Does the NCT just test for function and not worried about the look? or will this be a problem, and on a side note, will this eventually be a problem anyway, the fact that the boots have disintegrated?
    Thanks

Looks like there an even bigger boot on the outside of these things too??

That looks like a bumpstop that has just corroded away. They won't care. It won't effect things at all in normal circumstances, it only protects the shock if it gets over depressed I would think. They are usually made out of rubber-ish material which corrodes over time.

Thanks and both the top pics too? sorry, they were converted to links for some reason

That little acrodian boot that is close on the cylinder, is that really needed?

However, it might indicate shock failing / on the way out on this side.

I changed them to links. The images were not working, they may have worked for you but not others.

Yes, the covers would ideally be in place to protect the shock absorber from water/dirt. But it doesn't effect the workings of the shock in any way.

Grand so, I'll wait until the NCT reports bad shocks so ....Thanks again

So that's a Bump stop, that the top boot is shoved up into :)
