Kitchen mixer tap unusual problem!

    Hi All,
Can use your expertise here as I haven’t got a clue how to solve this problem. Any kind of advise is appreciated.
The mixer tap in my kitchen started to cause few problem (very old about 20 years old) so I decided to replace it but I am now in even worse situation!
When the plumber installed it 6 months ago I noticed two things immediately. The hot water pressure is very very low and the mixer itself is not holding itself but rather tilted forward a little bit. When I asked him why he said the hot water is because the water has to travel longer! And the mixer is not standing vertical because the sink is quite old and it’s thickness is not good enough to give support to the new mixer! I took his words but I wasn’t really happy. After about 3 months the mixer became loose at the base where it’s attached to the sink and now the whole thing has come out of the sink.
    P.s
The old mixer was half the size of the new one (height wise).

Can you please advise me of the type of the mixer tap I should go for this time around WITHOUT having to change the sink as well? How can I solve this problem? I am rubbish at DIY but I will get professional help but not before hearing from you so I know this time all the ins and out!

    Thank you

The cold water tap is mains water so mains pressure. The hot comes from the water tank in the attic so the pressure won't be anywhere near as good as the cold. If you noticed a big drop off in hot pressure with the new mixer then you most likely bought a high pressure mixer. You need a low pressure mixer as the hot pressure is low.

It's hard to comment on the mixer tilting and eventually falling over without seeing the sink up close. Some cheaper sinks are flimsy and can't support a tall mixer tap

Thanks a lot Sleeper. I never knew different mixers can give different water pressure. Unfortunately I can't post a pic of the sink here as my account won't allow it yet but it's the usual cheap stainless steel single bowl sink but it's fairly thin.
