    Wish he'd do it quietly.

He doesn't need to worry about drug testing now then, not that it matters much in that sport.

Oh well, give me an easy life and a peaceful death.

So he ended his career on a low, not a high?

I'm going to go straight out and say it anyway, I always found him an annoying bollox, yeah he was a great showman, but his antics out if the ring always seemed to steal from his performance inside them.

Not to mention his utter failure to stay away from questionable company, and indulge in questionable past times.

Hopefully he now stays the hell out of the limelight and our youth of today will no longer think that his behaviour and antics are that of a role models.

Well he was probably high when he tweeted that.

He's a clown but I'd say there's no way he's retired. Reading his tweet it looks like he was drunk when he wrote and sent it. If it's actually true I'd say he'll be back in a few years when he's blown half his cash.

Fúck him, he hasn't won a fight in years - unless you count that one with the auld fella in the elanora!:D

Just gonna focus on the <SNIP> now I suppose?

He's not putting it off any longer; he's enrolling in the University of Life for that PhD he's been toying with in his mind all these years. The Department of Advanced U ok hun? Studies won't know what hit it.

    Good for him I say.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,482 ✭✭✭✭Ush1

Obviously not retired. It's a negotiating tactic that he has used before.

Congratulations to the new executive vice president of the UFC

    I read that too.

He can make money without getting beat up. Plus the Whiskey and other ventures. His money works for him now, rather than him working for the money. More power to his elbow, albeit these sinister rumours out there really make me feel uncomfortable.

Heard a rumor he’s going for the next Taoiseach! He was sussing out the competition with Leo at the parade in the USA!

Katie Taylor has fought 13 times since 2016, McGregor twice. Whose mentality and behaviour would you rather your kids copy? A model professional athlete who is never in the headlines for anything but the right reasons or a blowhard obnoxious blabbermouth who is pure tabloid trash. Since 2015 McGregor has fought in the UFC 6 times and lost twice. Its a testament to the power of social media and a rapacious 24 hour trash news cycle that a fighter with 4 victories in 5 years has amassed 30 million instagram followers and a fighting purse of 15 million dollars ( 5 million of which came from the clown show that was the Mayweather fight).
McGregor belongs in the same category as another vile mouthpiece who makes my skin crawl, Trump. The world will be a better place the day both fall from their pedestals.

He could do grand Marshall at the paddy’s day parade next year as a little thank you back to Ireland

Neither really. I don't think I would like to see my daughter togging out and beating the **** out of another girl, just doesn't appeal to me.

This is clearly a desperate attempt to be lured out of "retirement" by being offered a lucrative comeback fight. The moron McGregor fans will still lap it up and credit him for his ingenuity and searing intellect.

Any chance he might just go away and we can all forget this difficult and embarrassing time in Irish history.

You think McGregor made 5 million from that fight?

He will never retire. He may not fight in the UFC again but I can guarantee in the next twenty years you will see him fighting bare knuckle in front of a row of containers to a whooping crowd of travellers and sailors for a bag of coke and a slab of cans.

In the meantime expect to see him in a dwindling number of social media advertisements for his whiskey sitting at a table in a shiny suit and sunglasses, sneering open mouthed to his cadre of sycophants and rapists.

Retired my arse, negotiations mustn't be going the way he'd like. No different to 3 years ago. He was on TV last night talking about his next fight, then retires an hour later. Gob****e.

McGregor is indeed a blowhard but I'd be extremely upset if my daughter was a <snip> like Katie Taylor. Neither are people I would hope my daughter would aspire to be.

Completely false, if a fighter retires they choose to be taken out of the USADA testing pool, if they were to unretire they would have to be tested for 6 months before they can fight again. As for "that sport", its easily the fastest growing sport on the planet atm.

    "you've gone soft Rocky".

Khabib put some manners on him.

He's got his money though, fair play to him.

WWE next I'd say, just in time for Wrestlemania.

    :pac:
Or if someone fails a test, they just move the fight to a state that will give them a license ;)

But this is going off topic, this is about the sad loss of a role model like McGregor to the sport.

Oh well, give me an easy life and a peaceful death.

Again false, if someone fails a test and is banned they are banned from all USADA states. Jon Jones was a different situation as they concluded that the trace amount found was from a previous test. And he wasn't banned, he just didnt get a licence in Nevada so they went elsewhere. McGregor ain't no role model, he was a good fighter with a decent left hand and great ability to hype a fight. Complete twat otherwise. Made the UFC more money in his 4 odd years in the UFC than they have ever earned.

He was on Jimmy Fallon last night saying he is looking for a fight in July,

So builds anticipation for a fight then this morning say's he is retired ,so of course he will need to be offered a bigger purse to fight in July , He's just playing the game ,

Don't take it serious until he is officially pulled from the USADA testing pool , If that happens then he may be serious,
