    1. I need to know what is the water hardness in my area as I am setting up a new dishwasher?

    There is no specific limit for water hardness under the Irish Drinking Water Regulations. Dishwashers generally have built-in water softeners. Householders should ensure these are set according to manufacturer’s instructions. In general, reducing the temperature of your hot water to 60 degrees Celsius or lower can decrease scale deposition.

    2. Where or how can I locate my house water mains tap?

    You should be able to switch off your water supply using your Inside Stop Valve, which should be located underneath your kitchen sink. Alternatively, you can switch off your mains supply from the Outside Stop Valve, which is usually located next to your water meter or by the entrance to your home.

    3. Is it legal to connect all taps to the mains?

    We recommend that you contact the building control authority, ie. Local Authority in your area in order get information on this.

    4. I bought a new property, however there is no water coming from the taps or toilets. What should I do?

    We recommend that you first try to turn on the Inside Stop Valve, which should be located underneath your kitchen sink. If this doesn’t help, you can switch on your mains supply from the Outside Stop Valve, which is usually located next to your water meter or by the entrance to your home.

    5. I have a very low water pressure. Can this be investigated for me?

    Would you mind sending a PM with the following details and we can look into this for you:
    - Name;
    - Address; and
    - Contact number.
