Any reason not to use 50mm insulated plaster board in an upstairs bedroom over woodchip wall paper that just wont' come off.

It's a lath and plaster ceiling that looks good condition, just covered in awful woodchip.

attic space above with 400mm loft wool

external walls will be 60mm wood fiber

    internal walls just skimmed

    loads of ceiling height.

    thanks.

Are you thinking of installing vapour barrier prior to fitting insulated slabs?
One problem you might encounter with leaving the original ceiling in place, would be that the lath nails (approximately 22 mm spacings) could hinder the slab screw fixings.

    Cheers,

I would like to install a vapor barrier alright but would be concerned about condensation behind the insulated plasterboard.

I know there is the 1/3 rule and i need to try work out if it would be safe to have a vapor barrier between the insulated PB and the old ceiling.

Good point regarding the nails. I'll try get above the old ceiling and see what's going on.

I really do not want not take down the old ceiling! I want to use this room as template to do the other rooms so trying to find the most sensible, and reasonably priced approach that performs well and safely

    thanks
