Getting a second job (part time)

I work a full time 9-5 office job in Dublin and was thinking about looking for part time work on the evenings or weekends. Has anyone had experience of doing this, and was it easy to get. There seems to be a lot of jobs available, but "fully flexible over 7 days".

I suppose takeaway driver would be the best option.

Are there any call centres near you? I worked one of those job part-time, and it's fine.

I'm sure the amount of tax they would put you on would be outrageous..

Otherwise good luck, why not make money in your free time

Would it be better to email or drop in a CV?

I would not mind working in a bar or restaurant.

    Drop in.

Don'tworryabour the tax thing: if you assign some credits to your 2nd job, you'll be charged no more tax than if the income was from your first job.

Drop in definitely at a quiet time and have a chat with a manager or similar. Or drop them a casual polite message on facebook first

Would you need a lot of past experience for restaurant and bar work?

When I was saving for my house, as well as the 8 -4 job, I got a part time job in a call centre 6pm - 2 am, the money was it bad and I stayed for 4 years, but that was before the working time act, now most companies don't let you work outside your main job, I know my current job is fairly strict,

You do get fleeced for tax, but for me, the end justified the means,

No. Just be eager and willing to do anything /work hard. Ive gotten quite a few jobs in that industry by just promising to work hard and be willing!

These kinda places for the most part are fairly casual. You could help out in the kitchen for example prepping food or simply washing dishes for a tenner an hour.

Surely your noy getting fleeced anymore than if you earned more in your current job. If your earning 25k in job 1 then you ll still onpy be paying 20%tax in job 2 up to 7000 per year in that job...

I used to work part time in a cinema evenings and weekends. There were no late nights and it was a nice place to work.
