Does anyone know this film?

I remember watching this movie that was on late at night about 20 years ago, fell asleep and have no idea what happened in the end or what it was called, can you please help me with finding it?

The main things i remember are the following:

It was most likely set and filmed in 1960s USA

The main character or protagonist was a teenage girl(who was about 15 or 16) with boyish short red hair.

She was on vacation in some coastal holiday town

There were two teenage boys and one teenage girl who she was sort of hanging around with, she on the periphery of the group, because she wasn't as popular, brave or outgoing as them, she was a bit of a prude

The other girl was relatively goodlooking, with dark brown hair, was confident and in one scene was dancing provocatively with the boys while at a bar playing loud 60s music on the coast/bay.

One(or it could be two) of the boys were sulking in one of the scenes about how much he wanted to see the brown haired girls breasts, or how he needed to have sex with her or something, so she(out of compassion more than anything else) takes off her bikini top while sun bathing, showing him her breasts.

The protagonist tell the others a story about how her mother died, in which, while at a sort of upper class party, her mother was drinking and went out swimming as a dare and drown-although she was a champion swimmer.

It was at that point i fell asleep
I can't remember anything else,

Terminator 12.
A terminator is sent back in time disguised as a red headed teen to kill Sarah Connors mother, Bridie. (the brown haired girl).
There wasn't any cool weapons to hand back in those days so terminator decides to befriend Bridie and then kill her with a toxic mix of mentos sweets and cola.
But the two guys are actually Sarah Connors grandson John Jo and a terminator sent to protect Sarah's mother bridie.
John Jo's terminator has developed a sense of touch and is mad to feel up a boob.

I can't remember how it all ends though.
