False Sham Marriage accusation

So me and my wife were living at this house where this guy kinda acted as the landlord. Guy is an absolute lunatic and a control freak. Drove us nuts. Last year, me and my, then, girlfriend got married. Among lots of things, I asked for this fella to write me a letter for proof of address.

Basically, after we left this asshole is trying to chip away at our deposit. To the point where I basically told him I'd have to go to the landlady to sort it out (I purchased the house folio and looked her up in the phonebook, he never gave us a number). I also told him I'd report him to the RTB, as the house is not on the register for tenancy.

Guy proceeded to threaten me saying he's going to the INIS. He still hasn't paid my deposit yet, he will on Sunday. What should I do? Should I report him to the Garda? Not sure what measures are in place for this.

Obviously, we are in a committed relationship and have more than enough proof for it, but it does make us feel very nervous about the whole thing.

How much money are we talking about?

It might be well worth your while to cut your losses and run.

If you're both still in the country - and especially if either of you is an Irish citizen already - INIS are unlikely to care. The sham marriage issue has been EEA citizens marrrying non-EEA citizens and then one or both promptly leaving.
