Why is criticism of the dole not allowed?

People won't take jobs paying €35k because they'll get almost as much from the dole and a part-time job, and they don't have to get out of bed 5 days a week.

Businesses have recruited people off the dole only for them to run off after a couple of weeks when they realise how generous the dole is. Why would they bother to get off their arses 5 days a week when they can get money handed to them for nothing?

The dole works out at under 10K a year - no where near 35K. Try living off less than 200 a week, its not easy and I cant believe anyone chooses that life unless theyve got some other form of income to keep them afloat which is rare.

How much does Margaret Cash get in welfare payments a year? I swore all in all it came to something like €45k!

Not everyone on the dole is entitled to Hap schemes or has children, besides children are very expensive and an extra 30 euro would barely cover food for one child for one week. Allot of parents cant work because of the cost of childcare and have no other option but sign on. Try living off that for a month and see how you get on, living on the poverty line with kids.

there's a politics forum where you can criticise all you like - this one is for advice on state benefits.

(there's also After Hours where they love a bit of dole bashing).

I'm closing this thread until such time as the State Benefit mods can review it, and see if they want to keep it open.
