2014 Skoda Octavia High Beam Assist

I have a 2014 Skoda Octavia 1.6 Diesel Elegance with High Beam Assist and Self Dimming interior mirror.

A while back the mirror stopped dimming, the little green light on the mirror is off and it does not switch on. I noticed that the High Beam Assist has also stopped functioning and gives a waring on the microdot display when the lights are switched on.

I have had it with my mechanic who has put it on VCDS and the HBA Module cannot be reached or read. He has tried to trace the wiring from the mirror to the module but cannot find the location of the module.

Since I purchased the car I have had the heater matrix replaced, this was done by the garage I purchased the car from, not my usual mechanic. I am wondering if they could have unplugged something under the dash when they were replacing the heater matrix?

Does anyone know the location of the HBA module in a mk3 skoda Octavia or have any ideas as to why the HBA and auto dimming mirror in the car are not working.

The high beam assist control module is integrated into the rear view mirror itself, there is no control unit elsewhere, it's all in the mirror housing.

The modules themselves are prone to failure, a reasonably common fault, they are also reassuringly expensive, the guts of €500. It sounds like yours has failed, generally you get an implausible signal fault which is what you have.

You might catch out a lad in breakers yard who isn't aware of it, just ask for a rear view mirror for an Octavia, you might get one cheap. It's a bit of a lottery though, they do break a lot.
