Problems with Eir Broadband (PS4)

Yesterday I moved my router from my kitchen to the hallway to connect it straight into the dsl box as I was having issues with download speeds on my PS4. My PS4 is also upstairs so now the router is closer and has less obstacles in the way.

At first the move was great. Download speeds were much higher. I was downloading a large game and was given an estimated download time of 5 hours which was much better than I was experiencing before.

However after a while the router started losing it's connection with the internet and reconnecting. This happened overnight as well so I turned off and unplugged the router and plugged it back in after two minutes. After doing this however the internet speed was very bad. The downloading game was given an estimated time of 99+ hours. I went to play another game online and it was unplayable due to the amount of lag I was experiencing. I tried restarting the PS4 and now it's struggling to even connect to the internet and at times can't obtain the IP address.

This has all happened since I connected the router into the dsl box (I think that's what it is called anyway). Has anyone else had this issue or have any suggestions?

In the attached picture you can see a single black cable plugged into the dsl box, that's the cable connected straight into my router.
