What SUV for me?

Currently have a 2014 Seat Leon 1.6 Tdi, very happy with the car and have had it almost a year.

Have been thinking about changing start of the summer and like the idea of getting an SUV but unsure which one so open to suggestions, reccommendations, do's and don't, etc

    Things i would like are:
    - decent bluetooth/touchscreen system for spotify, sat nav etc
    - cruise control
    - parking sensors

Would probably get something around €11,000 for my own car and would maybe put roughly €7,000 with it so around €18,000 to work with

Like the Leon i have so a fan of Seat but the Ateca is out of the price range really as its only out in 2017 so not many affordable second hand options yet, if i could afford it i'd really be interested

The main options i'm thinking are:
    Kia Sportage
    Nissan Qashqai
    Renault Kadjar
    Hyundai Tucson

    Any advice welcome?

    Out of your list, Sportage.

They are all Crossovers but then the marketing is confusing on these

Personally I would pick none of your list and go with Tiguan

Would be old model though at that price?

I asked a similar question here, got great advice and ended up with a Sportage.

Fantastic car. No complaints and I can fit 3 kids across the back, with 2 car seats. Great drive.

Leather seats, touch screen, rear sensor and camera, double sunroof, 8 airbags. 2015 version. 7 year warranty. Only downside is the boot is not the biggest.

Found the Nissan had less leg room and didn’t drive as well.

And it’s a generation behind the Leon they have now. The old Tiguan came out 13 years ago and while they’re a good car, I’m not sure I’d have one over a more modern car, particularly when one of the criteria is modern infotainment.

Now the Tiguan has good tech in it for its time, my FIL had one with self parking and touch screen and all that 8 years ago.

Kadjar seems to be popping up a bit more around the place, must be getting good reviews. Price wise seems a bit better too

You might have to stretch the budget a little bit but would you consider a SEAT Ateca?

Ignore me :o. I just read your post correctly.

It’s as good as any of them really and the boot is bigger than average.

Yes older model but as you said the older model was decent spec

I looked in 2012 at Tiguan and at that stage it had self parking, cruise, bluetooth etc.....a lot higher than Kia etc, even the newer Kia you would buy now

    Not a bad spec here

The description of the console above seems to indicate Apple carplay etc which you will struggle to find in that budget.

I think the one he had was 2010 but he paid enough extra for those things. It still wouldn’t give you the likes of CarPlay or Android Auto because of the year it came out.
That said, even if a newer one doesn’t have it- the aftermarket for VW is very strong so there’s every chance they could upgrade or update to get it where you just couldn’t do that with the likes of the Kia.

It won't but the list above would any of them offer carplayin that price range?

    Jeeps.

I have a 161 Tucson, I'm quite happy with it, no issues so far bar some worn bushings that they changed for free under warranty. Sportage is technically pretty much the same car, but "we" did not like it just as much. It does come with BT, average speakers, touch screen with satnav, reverse camera and sensors.

Not sure what the budget would get but I’d be surprised if an old shape Sportage had it now that you say it.

Well, splitting hairs here but technically its a 3 year warranty left.

No they are not Jeeps. What you are driving is not a Jeep either. It is a medium sized SUV. Jeep is an American brand that does proper off-road cars like Land Rover.

It's funny jeep is a bit like hoover in its use. Best is I'm convinced jeep (or even better jíp in Irish!) is used to describe suvs or whatever they should be called on irish registration certificates.

Obviously. Mine it's a Tucson jeep, not just any kind of jeep.
