Car back brake light staying on but....

    Nissan 2011 and back brakelight won't go off when key is out and doors closed. Was disconnecting the battery but can only get the negative off for now. Will the poisitive staying on all night effect it in any way.

    Been having issues with this conking out after first started on the morning just after I go to drive. Have to get the leads on it to get going all day untill the next morning.

    Brake light switch is stuck, it's located near the brake pedal.

    Try stomping on the brake pedal,

    If a circuit is incomplete it can't draw power so the battery won't drain the way you have it.

    Or checking behind it for the switch instead of hitting the wrong side of the pedal.

    Brake light is supposed to work in all ignition states.

    The correct action is to fix the fault in the circuit, most likely the switch on the brake pedal.

    It may just be a bit sticky or the pedal may not be fully retracting.

    Whatever the cause is you need to get it fixed it immediately. If it is staying on when stationary it is also likely on permanently or intermittently while you are driving which is a safety risk for you and anyone following you.

    Remove the fuse, or the bulbs, or find the cable connector in the boot. You can't drive it until the switch is fixed anyway.
    Disconnecting the battery and upsetting radio security code always worries me.

    yes I agree, although just removing the negative pole is sufficient for now.You don't need to remove both
