Hi, I’m looking to sell my car at the moment and owe about €400 in road tax going back to Sep-18.

If I sell it, does the overdue road tax charge pass to the purchaser? I want to up front with anyone who buys it.

    Appreciate any help and advice.

No. Any back tax is null and void on sale.

It 'disappears'. The buyer is only liable for road tax from the month they buy the car.

You could sell it to your mate to proove that what the above posters have said works and then when they get the logbook you buy it back ;)
