Push Button Sight Guage Problem

    Hi my central heating tank has a push button sight guage which has stopped working.
    A couple of months ago the little ball dropped from the top of the tube down a couple of inches but I still got a reading when I pushed the button.
    However now nothing happens when I press the button.
    Is there anything I could try to get it working before I buy a new one. TIA
