Can I trade in my car for a cheaper one?

I recently bought a car for 3000 without properly considering it and want to sell it and get one for about 1500. I know people trade in their cars and put money towards newer ones but I've never heard of the opposite and was wondering if its a done thing?

You can but it will probably still cost you money to do so. You would be better off trying to sell the 3k car privately and then buy the 1500 one separately.

Okay so you think the garage would probably only give me the €1500 car and €500 cash or so?

    No.
That doesnt happen like that. Either sell privately and buy with cash the 1500 car or you'll probably have to swap and no cash either way with the dealer.

A car worth 3k to you is probably only worth 1500 to a dealer anyway

Okay so I'd be better off selling privately and get as much as I can for it. Thanks
