BMW - Footwell Module

    Hi Folks,

I had the battery replaced under recommendation of my mechanic last week, this resulted in the footwell module packing in. I currently have some of the electrics back working.
I understand this is a common fault with some BMW models when the battery is either disconnected and/or replaced.
At present my car is with another electronics specialist who is trying to sort the problem but it is not looking good. Chances are I'll have to get a new one.

Very frustrating as I had no issues with the car and have now been without it for over a week.

    Anyone else experience this issue?

Try Vitronix, ask for Vlad --> https://www.vitronix.ie/electronics-control-units-repair

If he cannot recover the module, he can usually source a second hand/reconditioned unit from Eastern Europe at a significant discount versus new from BMW. Naturally you take a risk, as it's not covered by warranty. Might get you out of a hole.

Another vote for Vlad here too.
Sorted out PDC issues on our old E60.

I find the easiest way to get in touch with him is through WhatsApp on <number is available on the linked webpage>

Thanks all, the electronics specialist has confirmed that he hasn't been able to fix it. He isn't charging me for his work either.

I called Vitronix (it was actually recommended by a colleague too) and they charge €250 + vat, a new module is €810 + vat with BMW .

My mechanic has tried 2 second hand parts and neither have worked.

I feel stuck on this as I don't want to fork out €250 + the cost of a new replacement if a replacement is ultimately required.

Total pain as I'm without my car for nearly 2 weeks now
