I am on Illness Benefit for the last couple of years due to a mental health issue. I own my own house but have a big mortgage (purchased before I got sick). I'm really struggling to make ends meet. Is it possible to rent-a-room in my house tax free and without affecting my Illness Benefit?

Illness benefit is not means tested but only lasts a maximum of two years after which you will need to go on a different payment such as disability allowance which is means tested.
