Moment of the half, James Ryan dropping to his knees to dump tackle Dupont :)

    125-37 tackle count.

If we score next I hope we make some early changes esp at 2 9 10

Larmour is doing a lot with ball in hand. He's so much more of an attacking threat than R.K!
    Healy and Henderson are beasts!
    Ringrose on a different level.
Murray is playing a little better.
    Stander is in beast mode!
Great chance for Conan to shine. He's more than capable at this level!

I'd rather keep on as many starting players as possible. Let them play their way to greater confidence and form. There hasn't been enough of that this season.

Wonderful stuff from Ireland. How France haven't got or had a man in the bin I know not.

Disgraceful dereliction by the ref. When Sexton scored a yellow was about to be called. That it wasnt just cos we crossed is unacceptable.

    Henderson >>> Roux.

Honestly i know people, mainly Connacht fans, get annoyed at me but i dont think Roux should be anywhere near international rugby. Swap Beirne for Dillane on the bench and thats a savage locking combo.

Weird not having genuine 7 cover on the bench but so far so ok for Conan.

We should be further ahead really. Totally dominant!

Henderson is our best 2nd row by a country mile!

I don't see the point in Cooney and Carty getting a token 7 or 8 minutes. Give them 20-25 min

What do we need for point difference to catch England? 70-0?!

Why weird, the best you can do is a 5/6 player and then a choice btwn a predominantly 7 or 8 at No. 20? Its a toss up for every selector.

Incredible half of rugby from an Irish point of view. We could easily have had at least 2 more tries and a hat full of penalties if we had opted for the posts. We are one try away from a bonus and could easily have passed the 40 mark already with a little more composure. Ref also seems extremely reluctant to brandish a card.

On the other hand, to revert to that hoary cliche, you just don't know what France will turn up, not just on the day but even in the next half. Their game against Wales showed that they can be a completely different team either side of half-time. From imperious in one to diabolically bad in the other. I wonder if they might reverse that performance today...lets hope not.

Scotland to do is a favour!

Not sure if pointed out, but on Sexton try but Larmour kept running and ran straight into Bastaraud .....so even if he was going to tackle Sexton he couldn't as larmour knocked him....subtle but lovely......

Ireland have benefitted from the same thing in the past. It's not that uncommon.

Scotland if they played at home.....you might as well send the ScotlandU20 team down because they would play better than the seniors in Twickenham

In my 31 years of playing/reffing/coaching rugby I've never seen an Irish team to dominate a French team like they are today. 3 unanswered tries and one almost try. 125-37 tackle count. 2% in the Irish 22; there was as much play in the French In Goal as that.

This is the stuff of legend. It isn't for the want of French laziness; they are playing as well as they can play but they're totally outmanoeuvred and totally outgunned so far today.

And ironically this could well be France's best performance of the Six Nations in 2019

Great 1st half from Ireland. We should get another BP win here to go up against Wales in Cardiff next weekend.

France though are on the opposite end of the spectrum. They should be obliterated in the 2nd half when our lads are powering them through on the pitch so brilliantly. France are looking really desperate to score something in this match. They don't look like a team that is focused on the grounding of tries. They do feel that they don't have the mood to be there. It very unusual for a French team like this one to play this poor in their whole careers. When they came over to Dublin in the past; our lads used to be afraid of them because they were one of the powerful sides in Europe back then. Now; they just are seen as a team that has lost their way.

As I am new to the sport of Rugby, Can anyone explain why the Try was called off? He had the ball when he went over the finished line. What was wrong?

Larmour actually interfered with 3 defenders at once. Was lovely.

Ringrose had also bumped him to slow him getting across. But tbh basteraud didnt seem to fight the bumps.

Agree also that penalty for taking out the lifter was seriously dangerous. A yellow card IMHO.

Not necessarily, if we get a 60 point win and a tbp 25 point win over Wales and England don't get the tbp, LoL

It's all about getting the try bonus now. Get the first score of the half to really break the French spirit.

Don't give them the first score lest they get their tails up. We're still not playing well enough that there won't be a wobble of Franc ever a sniff.

It's a hard performance to judge given how poor France have been but I imagine some Welsh fans are watching this cursing that we seem to be returning to form at the wrong time.

It does show the improvement in Larmours game.....if he keeps it up he will be starting 15 for WC

Good disciplined defence there. Lovely quick thinking by Ringrose to nail Dupont.

I guess if France want to take some kind of positive, their successful tackle percentage is better than Ireland's :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,317 ✭✭✭crisco10

France seem to have little control at the back of rucks. Seem surprised it's out half the time

Has Ringrose ever played badly for Ireland? He oozes class every time I see him in a green jersey.

Michel Barnier should be in the stands watching this match. He could be there with Varadkar.

Nah they're going for pints later. Barnier's having family time at the match.

    That move is so 2012

  • Been a good performance so far imo, would hope we go on and get the BP from here. Conan has 100% justified his inclusion over SOB. Hope VdF is alright.
