Water Hammer Query

    Hey,

Been getting this water hammer (i think) and site plumber added water hammer arrestor's to some of the pipes at the mains, washing machine etc. But its still really bad on the cold water only (wasn't an issue on cold before he came) and all the plumber is saying to me is slow turn how you turn off the pipes.

I've traced the noise into the hot-press and surely the piping should be better fixed than the image attached (cold to the front, hot to the rear). Thought it might stop the rattling?? Its very bad.

    House is 2 years old.

    Thanks

That looks to be part of your central heating system. Either ways, it is a shocking state for any plumber to leave it in. I would hate to see the state of pipework that cant be seen
Better off getting a recommended plumber in to assess the pipework and resolve the problems for you.

If it's cold water only then it is most likely on the pipe going to or from your cold water tank in the attic.
Go up to your attic and get someone to run the tap and then turn it off.
This should help you identify where the vibration is occurring. There are a number of ways to resolve this once you know the location.

Judging by the state of the pipework in the picture, none of the pipework in the house is secured and clipped down correctly, least of all the pipework under the floor or behind walls, leaving it free to rattle and vibrate to its hearts content.

I wouldn’t have accepted that plumbing when doing the snagging.
