    Hi
My car key fob for opening/closing car - central locking now working

It for a 2014 VW Golf 1.6 TDI Hatchback

Is it a case that the battery is just gone in the fob and I just need to get a new battery for it and open up the fob and replace the battery or is it case that I have get a brand new key fob coded for the car via car dealership

I have a 2nd key fob -the spare

    Thanks in advance

Try the battery from the spare....that will answer your question.

The batterys in those keys last no time at all, 24 months tops.

    The use a CR2025 battery.
