Currently driving an 2009 a4 with roughly 160k km on it.
Noticed yesterday and today when i go over a speed ramp there is a noise like a clunk coming from the drivers side front wheel when it goes over them.
Nothing noticeable under normal driving just when it goes up and over a speed ramp.

I know its a vague question but anybody know what i should look at for play in i assume its something in the suspension thats worn due to age and mileage

    Cheers lads

That era of a4 is well known for front suspension issues, balljoints, bushes etc. All the arms are aluminium and very expensive compared to a more traditional setup and they use a lovely steel bolt in the top two balljoints thats guaranteed to be seized.

We had one in for a cv boot last week that ended up costing €500 because the knuckle had a crack in it the bolt had swelled so much

Can just imagine dropping the car into the garage in the morning so hopefully they can diagnose the noise and will go from there.
    Thanks for the reply
Will update when I get it back tomorrow evening

    I’m guessing it’s a new shape a4 with it being a 2009.

It’s probably just a ball joint but they can be a pain if the bolt takes the threads with it.

That's it new shape alright, I remember 2years ago getting a CV boot for a NCT retest and the fella doing it said what a pain in the hole they are to work on.
