carrycot mattress, replace or not?

As the title, did people reuse or replace the mattress for the carrycot? No1 only used it for about 6 or so weeks for daytime naps, and that's when she would stay in it for us (she wasn't a good daytime napper).

I was thinking of chancing giving it a good wash because other than its 2.5years old, it's barely been used and no wear and tear on it. I'm also hoping to be able to baby wear this bubs, so there should be even less demand for its use, so it seems a bit of a waste to get a new one.

    Cheers!

I replaced. It was used a bit for 4 months and he was a bit of a spitter. It was also used / would be used for some overnights in my parents so overall I thought better to replace.

I see no need to replace a mattress barely used . Give it a wash and hang out in the cold fresh air for a few hours

I’ve never replaced mine, though I know I should. None of mine were spitters, and it was always double covered

I think the main reason it’s recommended to replace mattresses or not use a 2nd hand one is because they get soft over time which is a SIDS risk or improper storage like up in the attic. I won’t be replacing my one if I have another because it was used very little. My son hated the bassinet.

Thanks guys! I think I'll chance it and not get a new one. It was barely used with the toddler and I see it being used even less this time around.

The toddler wasn't a spitter, it was covered with a pillowcase/Moses basket sheet, and I don't think we used it as an over night sleeper. We have a different crib Tavel cot thingy that we would use this time around for something like that.

I am going to go against everyone and say replace it!! They are so cheap anyway. You can buy a generic one to fit the size.

I replaced my bugaboo cameleon one which is a weird shape and got one on amazon no problem.

I replaced moses, carrycot and cot mattress.

The cot mattress I'm getting this week, and we have a new Moses basket thingy got (the one we used with the toddler was borrowed, but had a new mattress). Its just the carrycot I don't know what to do about as I don't see it being used much, if at all really.

    They are literally only €10-€15.

We didn't replace moses basket one.The basket was old and the mattress was specialised, made to fit.No accidents happened in it, and it had a zip protective cover, and a sheet over that. Each successive baby spent less time in it, due to each being bigger than the last and BF on the second and third, meant they spent more time in my bed.We did replace the cot mattress each time though. They moved into the cot between 11 and 14 weeks.

The pram wasn't replaced either. It was washed. But it was hardly ever used -we had to get an infant insert on our first and use the buggy from about 9 weeks due to reflux and we mostly used that for the next two.None of them settled in the pram basket really, it returned to the attic at about 3/4 months on all of them.

Personally I'd replace but I'm a nervy and overly cautious type.

I'd just know that if anything ever happened I would have that hanging in the back of mind, for the sake of a tenner it's worth the peace of mind.

If at all mattreses should not be kept in the attic . We have an ottoman bed and i keep all my daughters mattresses under the bed . They were washed , aired and kept dry and warm . If needed again they will be washed again .

    .

Sorry to be melodramatic but you will ‘chance it’ ! Imagine the worst happened and you blamed yourself for chancing it all for the sake of a tenner. Just get one

I would replace it, such a tiny amount of money I don't understand why you.

Totally agree. So cheap and the safest option.
