Fixing metal fence posts to tarmac?

    Hi folks,

Looking to put up a mesh fence as a dog run, however I only have the option of putting it on tarmac. The posts and fencing will look something like this, only about 6ft high:

The posts just sit into a metal base plate. However I'm not sure if tarmac will be strong enough to hold the base plates. Can anyone recommend a good way to bolt these onto tarmac?

The option of coring the tarmac and dropping in longer fence posts, then pour concrete around it has also been suggested to me - but this could get messy quick! Any help is appreciated. Cheers in advance.

Do you know how deep the tarmac is?
You can get special fixing for tarmac like this

Seems to use a rubber plug as a metal one might lead to the tarmac breaking up.
Also what kind of dog is it, big difference is how secure it needs to be for a Rottweiler vs a Jack Russel.

Not sure how deep the tarmac is but I could probably find out - cheers for the help on those, they look great.

It's for two small-ish dogs so I wouldn't be too worried about them knocking or moving the fencing, which is handy. Just want to make sure it would withstand high winds really, or that the fence wouldn't start to lean after a few months.

If it is garden/driveway type of tarmac it will support very little especially in warm weather.
Last time I needed to do something similar I used 3' lengths of angle iron hammered into the ground and bolted the posts to them.
Did minimal damage to the tarmac and gave a secure fixing.
The posts I had did not have base plates yours would need cutting.

How did you fix the Angle Iron to the tarmac though?

Banged angle iron straight down through tarmac into the ground below. I put a point on the angle and lump hammer was sufficient to hammer it in
