Citroen C4 Grand Picasso - Adblue injector failure, no warning light

    Hi

Last week I purchased a 152 Citroen C4 Grand Picasso (1.6 BlueHDI Selection) with 29k miles, however last night after about 400 miles driven by us, smelly white smoke started coming out of the exhaust. We pulled over and call the rescue truck and it was brought to our local garage.

Today they have informed us that the car's Adblue injector has failed. They said it'll cost about €450 to fix and regenerate the dpf etc. The car is under warranty and so this will be covered.

However my main question is, is this issue indicative of other problems that could come down the line (or could it have knock on effects to the engine etc) or is a simple failure that has happened within the statistical failure limits?

I am still within the 14 day return period so I can technically return it for a full refund however we like the car and would rather keep it is this is more than likely a stand alone issue.

    Many thanks for looking.

    FN

What is this 14 day return period you speak of?

First of all thats from the UK not Ireland, second it only applies to distance selling rules, not buying a car. You don't have a 14 day period to return unfortunately

The problem you have may be a one off, parts do fail randomly and since they are covering it under warranty then I wouldnt let it get to you too much

Ah I left out I bought the car in NI

    https://www.theaa.com/car-buying/legal-rights
On 13 June 2014 The Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation, and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 replaced the Distance Selling Regulations and gives you key cancellation rights when you enter into contracts at a distance.

You have a right to cancel from the moment you place your order until 14 days from the day you receive your goods.
Having decided to cancel within 14 days you then have 14 days to actually return the goods.
You should get a refund within 14 days of the dealer getting the car back.

Its still not distance selling so doesn't apply to you, distance selling would be say if you bought something on amazon and had it posted to you and you didn't open the package at all then you can return it at your own expense for a refund

I gets you now, thanks for clearing that up for me.

However I guess I'm covered in part by this, although was the car faulty when I bought it or did the failure fully happen post sale.

As you say, it's a statistical random failure that's covered by the warranty. I don't want to go looking for another car after spending a lot of time finding this one and it had been perfect to drive.

Was it bought from a dealer or private?

On the injector, just sounds like something has failed, these things do.

Interesting.. also just bought the same car off them, they delivered it from Belfast to my door.

Are they doing the repair in Dublin for you? Be curious to know how their after sales service is on these kind of issues, we have a 12 month warranty from them.

Any update on what the problem was and cost? Have a family member with similar issue.
