Looking at a 2010 e class and notices they come in a few different variations, being the E200 E220 AND E250 .. can anyone tell me more about them as the cars practically look identical? thanks in advance!:pac:

They are different bhp versions of the same 2.1 Sprinter engine.

    200 is 134bhp, 220 is 167bhp and 250 is 201bhp

There were probably changes along the line, but that’s the general idea.

thanks for the reply! might avoid the e200 so, a tad underpowered it seems for a car that size! my passat is 170bhp and its not exactally a rocket lol

They also come in e350 6 cylinder diesel which is a far nicer engine for the car.
Slightly later versions also has the e300h which is the e250 4 cylinder with some battery power added in.

If you go and buy the Mercedes, find the guy who have a star diagnostics. It shows way more the car troubles than any regular obd2 scanner. I find thanks for my star diagnostics the problems what I did not know ever can exist. It can reads very deeply all the problems and when the problem starts on the first time. The generic/advance obd2 does not see these lines at all, this is the dealer level tool.

I must say that, the 2eur obd2 scanner are better than nothing. At least it can read the most generic codes.

There's very few of them about since the tax rules changed in 2008 but if you see 'Kompressor' on the right-hand side of the boot lid of an E200, it's a petrol model.

I think the engine block is the same in the E200, E220 and E250 diesels i.e. they have the same c.c. They vary by bhp because of different grade turbos.

Changed from a 170 BHP vag to an E200. The 200 was a much more powerful car. I wouldn't pass on one because you'd think it may be underpowered. Since changed to an E300h. Lovely car and excellent fuel economy.
Edit :, just to clarify, both mercs were diesel.

OP would be looking at an e200 diesel though.

E300h is diesel also. Same 4 cylinder as the e250.

The e250 cdi has 204 bhp, 17 inch alloys, two turbos and real leather.

The lower spec is tex leather, man made, single turbo, 16 inch wheels which look small imo.

Buy the 250, I have one coming up on six years, I used to change every year or two until I got this, if ticks the boxes for me and I don't plan on changing it soon.
