Some brand dealers will have their own bank
    For instance https://www.volkswagen.ie/en/offers-and-finance/finance/finance-products.html

Existing customers usually get better rates on personal loans, Bank of Ireland are worth a look at, I think they have 7.85% apr variable on personal loans, as opposed to AIBs 8.95%. But you may not be able to get as much with them if you're not a customer.

You can always become a "customer" by opening a current account for free. Could he worthwhile if it's a substantial difference. Also check out their early repayment penalties etc.

It may be too late if you're not already a member, but credit unions usually do special rates for motor loans. My local one is 6.5%, don't think any of the banks can beat it.

AvantCard APR for loans of €20,000 and over is 6.1%

My local CU are fairly eager to give loans - too many savers and not enough borrowers. Go and talk to them, you never know.

Lowest you'll get with BOI is 6.8% and that's when you're borrowing over 20.
